Elliott State Research Forests: Forest Management Planning

The Oregon Department of State Lands (DSL) and Oregon State University (OSU) are working collaboratively to explore transforming the Elliott State Forest into a publicly owned state research forest.

As part of the process, OSU is leading the Elliott State Research Forest (ESRF) management planning efforts. Forest management planning for the forest began in October 2021. The tabs below detail key milestones as part of OSU’s forest management planning scope of work. Key documents, public engagement opportunities, and updates to the process will be shared and available on this website.

For questions or comments about the forest management planning process, please email elliott.research@oregonstate.edu to ensure they will be reviewed by the OSU forest management planning team.

*Thank you to everyone who attended the Elliott State Research Forest – Recreation and Education Listening Session. Due to technical difficulties, the visual and audio recording of the meeting was unable to capture much of the great resources and information that was learned by speaking with residents and panelists. We sincerely apologize to those that were interested in joining the discussion remotely but were impacted by the technology issues. We are still interested in hearing from you on the current and future ways you envision the forest for both recreation and education. The survey link remains open (Elliott State Research Forest Recreation & Education Activities Survey), and we would appreciate your input. Feedback received will be reviewed during the FMP development process and as separate recreation and education plans are created for the Elliott State Research Forest. Additionally, you are welcome to bring your feedback to upcoming listening sessions or email us at Elliott.Research@oregonstate.edu
