Edanur Ayhan Polat holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Forest Engineering. She is a Research Assistant at the Faculty of Forestry, Bursa Technical University, Türkiye, and a Ph.D. candidate in Forest Economics. Her research focuses on forest economics, forest carbon accounting, and the economic valuation of forest ecosystem services.
As part of her doctoral research, Edanur will join the Forest Engineering, Resources and Management (FERM) Department at the College of Forestry, Oregon State University, as a Visiting Student Intern. She will collaborate with Professor Andrés Susaeta on the research project "A Tool for Developing Carbon Projects under the Improved Forest Management Methodology: Rotation Age." The project aims to develop a decision support tool to optimize forest rotation age for enhancing carbon sequestration under the Improved Forest Management (IFM) methodology. By integrating forest growth modeling, carbon accounting, and economic analysis, the project seeks to support the design and implementation of carbon offset projects while contributing to sustainable forest management and climate change mitigation.
