Metodi Sotirov is an Associate Professor and Senior Researcher in Forest and Environmental Policy at the University of Freiburg in Germany, whose research focuses on actor-centered policy analysis of transformative change towards biodiversity conservation, climate mitigation and adaptation, and sustainable forest management. Metodi is also a Deputy Coordinator of IUFRO’s Working Party on Integrated Cross-sectoral Policy.
Sotirov coordinates and teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in “Global Natural Resource Policy”, “European Forest and Environmental Policy”, “Nature Protection Policy”, and “Forests and Global Change” at the University of Freiburg. He is a regular visiting guest lecturer with AgroParisTech Nancy in France and the University of Applied Sciences for Agriculture, Forests and Food Bern in Switzerland. He has presented in the United States at Yale University and Northern Illinois University, and internationally at Stockholm University, Uppsala University, National University of Singapore, ETH Zürich, and University of Forestry in Bulgaria. While visiting the College of Forestry and Oregon State University, Metodi presented a lecture titled "The Global Regulation of Sustainable and Legal Agricultural and Timber Supply Chains".
