College of Forestry retirees and Dean’s Award recipients were recently celebrated with a ceremony and reception. The Dean's Awards are truly "of the community," with colleagues recognizing peers, mentors or collaborators for their contributions to this community.
The event got started by recognizing 2025 retirees Glenn Howe and Janean Creighton. Glenn provided forest genetics and tree improvement expertise at Oregon State for almost three decades! He joined OSU as a faculty member in 2001, and served as Director of the Pacific Northwest Tree Improvement Research Cooperative for 24 years, guiding research and partnerships that advanced tree breeding and genetic conservation across the region. Janean dedicated her career to bridging science and practice in forestry and natural resources. She joined OSU in 2010 as an Associate Professor and Extension Specialist, where she focused on connecting research to the needs of landowners, managers, and communities. She served as Administrative Director of the Northwest Fire Science Consortium for a decade and also directed OSU’s Master of Natural Resources program.
Since 1990, the Dean’s Awards for Outstanding Achievement have recognized members of our college community whose service or performance is “truly exceptional,” and significantly contributes to the advancement of the college’s mission. Congratulations to the recipients:
