Thanks to our generous donors, the College of Forestry is excited to offer Experiential Learning Funds (ELF) to CoF undergraduate and graduate students who would like to participate in *domestic programs or activities that support education, professional development, and/or leadership experiences, including conferences, workshops, seminars, certain training/certifications, or similar activities.
Apply for up to $500 to help with expenses related to airfare, event registration, lodging, transportation.
Eligibility
- Be currently enrolled in a College of Forestry major or graduate program (non-degree seeking students and CoF minors only are not eligible).
- Taking at least 6 OSU credits (1/2 time) (summer term requires only 3 OSU credits).
- All OSU campuses eligible (Cascades, Ecampus, Corvallis).
- Limit 1 ELF award per academic year.
Financial Aid Note – Experiential learning funds could impact financial aid. Student Services reports ELF awards to the Financial Aid Office. Students are responsible for contacting FA to discuss possible effects of accepting ELF awards before accepting.
Post Award Requirements:
Students who are awarded experiential learning funds will be required to:
- Submit a trip budget, waiver of liability form, and travel funding agreement.
- Submit a written reflection that addresses how the experience was beneficial to your education and professional development and how donor funds supported your participation within two weeks of the end date.
- Be willing to speak about your experience with stakeholder groups, prospective students, and other members of the college, if asked.
How To Apply:
Applications can be submitted to the College of Forestry Experiential Learning Funds Proposal in ScholarDollars. Each participation term has an application deadline (see below). Applications will be reviewed by Student Services and applicants notified of decisions within six business days of the deadline.
You can apply for Experiential Learning Funds even if you have not been accepted to the program/activity or are not 100% sure you will attend. You can decline awards, but late applications will not be accepted.
*We are only able to fund domestic experiences. Please work with the CoF International Programs Office for study abroad, faculty led or international internship programs.
