The College of Forestry has designated funds to support students facing financial challenges due to unexpected circumstances, which may hinder academic progress. College of Forestry emergency funds are meant to assist students with documented financial need.
The College of Forestry can award emergency funds to help cover the following unexpected situations:
- Unexpected housing and food costs
- Course-related materials and equipment that are not covered by regular tuition/fees
- Unexpected vehicle repairs
- Family emergencies (travel expense due to immediate family illness, death, etc.)
- Unexpected medical expenses
- Unanticipated childcare cost
- Certain student account balances that result in registration holds
Expenses that are not covered include routine bills, anticipated medical expenses, transportation costs, legal fees, parking tickets or fines, and expected tuition and fees.
Eligibility/Criteria
- Read and review guidelines
- Be a currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in a CoF major or program of study in the term which funds are requested
- Enrolled at least half-time (6 or more OSU credits) at time of application
- Demonstrate a financial hardship with clear explanation of the situation
How to Apply
To apply for College of Forestry Emergency funds, log into ScholarDollars and apply to the College of Forestry Emergency & Hardship Grant application.
- Applications will be reviewed by the Student Services Office
- Students will be notified of decisions via email
- Awards typically range between $500 and $1000, depending on circumstances and funds availability
- Students may only receive one hardship grant per academic year
Grant Disbursement – If approved, funds will be provided through one of the following methods:
- A refund check or direct deposit to your personal account
- Direct payment to your student account to address your outstanding balance
