RFP - Strategic International Partnership Initiative: Chile


The Dean invites College of Forestry faculty to submit proposals in furtherance of the College’s internationalization priority with a focus on Chile. 

I.     OBJECTIVE.  The objective of the Chile Initiative is to establish long-lasting collaborative research, education, and outreach partnerships with Chilean partners, including universities, agencies, NGOs and corporations.  Examples of desirable activities include collaborative research partnerships, student internship opportunities, student and faculty exchanges, and faculty-led study abroad classes.  Dean’s Investment Funds will be used to seed efforts and leverage other funding to sustain collaborative activities into the future.  Awards in the range of $2,500 - $20,000 will be made. 

II.    PROPOSAL EVALUATION CRITERIA. Proposals will be evaluated based upon the following criteria:

A.  Contribution to COF strategic priorities in internationalization, educational excellence, research excellence, and diversity.

B.  Rigor

1.  Research proposals

a) Clear question/objective/problem statement

b) Strong rationale

c) Appropriate methods

2.  Education and outreach proposals

a) Relevance to, and integration with CoF graduate and/or undergraduate programs

b) Pedagogical innovation, appropriateness

C.  Strength of partnership

1.  Letters of commitment from Chilean partners

2.  Depth of collaboration and engagement with Chilean partners

3.  Preparatory work to date

D.  Sustainability

1.  Leverage, external funding

2.  Viability (e.g. realistic student numbers, in the case of classes)


A.  Proposals will be submitted through the online system accessed here.

B.  Proposal deadline is COB, June 8, 2015.

C.  Proposals will be reviewed and ranked by the COF International Programs Office and Department Heads for recommendation to the Dean.

D.  The Dean will select projects for funding.

E.  Funding decisions will be announced by July 1, 2015.
