Engineering For Sustainable Forestry

This research designs forest operations to achieve sustainable forest management objectives, ecological restoration operations, road design and construction. Projects include aerial-based LiDAR profile analysis for harvest system feasibility, subgrade evaluation to improve road designs, fluvial performance of bridge crossings, road assessments for biomass transportation, and harvest impact mitigation.

Ben Leshchinsky heads this research area. Leshchinsky is an assistant professor in geotechnical engineering. His research focuses on basic and applied soil mechanics, particularly focused towards geohazards.
