OBJECTIVES
FOR 420/520

This class is focused on applications in remote sensing. We believe that after a (re)introduction to the fundamental principles of remote sensing and image processing, the best way to establish a skill-set for your unique interests is through hands-on problem solving. For that reason, much of the course is dedicated to the completion of a student-designed research project.

As a result of completing this class, each student:

1) will be able to match a research question or management objective to the appropriate remote sensor and analytical technique.

2) will have the skills required to conduct basic image processing using the ERDAS Imagine System.

3) will be aware of state-of-the-art applications and techniques used in aerial photo interpretation, and remote sensing.

4)  will design and conduct a remote sensing research project.

5) students enrolled in FOR520 will become familiar with peer reviewed literature in remote sensing.
