AVAILABLE DATA SETS
FOR 420/520

The following data are for your use for term projects.  I have indicated where on the network you can access the data.  Data that you decide to use must be copied to your personal workspace before you begin any data processing.

  1. Southern Washington, not georeferenced (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\swash-ng)

  2. Six years of Landsat TM seven band images, including parts of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Mount St. Helens, and private lands.  Some images might be georeferenced, but not to each other.  This data is especially good for georeferencing projects.
  3. Southern Washington, georeferenced (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\swashgeo)

  4. Same as data above, but all georeferenced to each other based on a UTM grid, but not radiometrically corrected.  This data can be used for change detection issues that are not keyed to georeferencing issues.
  5. Mount St. Helens (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\msh)

  6. Eight dates of Landsat TM bands 3 and 4 for a portion of the Mount St. Helens blast zone, georeferenced and radiometrically corrected to each other.
  7. Pacific Northwest West Side (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\pnw)

  8. AVHRR LAC image of the Pacific Northwest, including red and near infrared bands.  Might be used with other images to explore multiple scale issues.
  9. Fly Creek (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\flycrk)

  10. Landsat TM image of Fly Creek area near Metolius River in Eastern Oregon.  Related data includes ground truth, U-2 photos, and quads.  This is useful data for classification projects.
  11. Corvallis (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\corvalli)

  12. 1988 SPOT image of Corvallis, including a portion of MacDonald Forest.  Useful for projects that need ground truthing or use of MacDonald Forest GIS database.
  13. Earlybird (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\earlybir)

  14. Simulated data from the Earlybird satellite.  Includes two panchromatic images and two multispectral images, each at different resolutions.  Good for studies comparing the effects of pixel size.
  15. H. J. Andrews Experimental Forest (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\hjandrew)

  16. 1988 Landsat TM image of H. J. Andrews.
  17. Warner Creek Fire (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\warner)

  18. Landsat TM images from before and after the Warner Creek fire.  Good data set for change detection studies.
  19. OSU Research Forests (t:\teach\resfor\ortho\macdunn; t:\teach\classes\data\for520\macdunn)

  20. Color digital orthophotos and Landsat TM image of MacDonald-Dunn Forest.  GIS layers are also available for this site (t:\teach\data\resfor).  Orthophotos and GIS layers are also available for the Blodgett tract.
  21. Positive Systems Data (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\positive_systems_data\1(folder) and t:\teach\classes\data\for520\positive_systems_data\1b(folder)).  High resolution, low altitude photo data of Lamar Valley, Yellowstone National Park (not georeferenced) *.lan files.
  22. Geovantage (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\geovantage\macdata).  Corvallis.  2m resolution. Digital aerial photo.
  23. Catherine Creek - Eastern Oregon Riparian Change (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\Cathcreek).  2 images: 1979 (cc79_8.img) and 1998 (cc98_7.img) UTM Zone 11 WGS 84 (near LaGrande, OR).
  24. IKONOS (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\ikonos).  Central Oregon, Ochoco National Forest.  3 images: 1) panchromatic, 1m res (53346_pan.img), 2) color, 3-band, 4m res (53346_col.img), and 3) infrared, 4m res (533346_nir.img).
  25. PMR -eastern Oregon landcover (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\pmr) 4 variables -arc GRID.
  26. National Landcover Data httt:\teach//landcover.usgs.gov/natlandcover.html  Nationwide landcover maps (21 classes) that can be downloaded.    30m resolution, Albers conic equal area projection, NAD83.  Metadata for Oregon coverage (t:\teach\classes\data\for520\nlcd).
