LAVA LANDS ADVENTURE

During one of our many activities, we stopped to tour the lava fields.  Besides the many rocks flows, there were tons of chipmunks.  Against recommendations, quite a few students began feeding the chipmunks chips and nuts.  The little rodents became more courageous and began running up outstretched legs.  There was even one point where a chipmunk had a hat thrown on it and took off with the hat.  We had too much fun to say the least.

During our tour of the lava lands we stopped at the Fort Rock Ranger District fire tower on Lava Butte.  While some people toured the outside of the fire tower many went inside to check out the fire lookout’s quarters.  Although very small, this fire lookout thoroughly enjoyed his job.
