Distribution, ecology, taxonomy and phylogeny of macrofungi, especially the morels, truffles, and related cup-fungi (Pezizales) of western North America; secondary intrest in bioinformatics.
Inventorying existing collections of Pezizalean fungi, targeting collecting in under-studied areas, describing new taxa and new distribution records, and preparing computer-based means of identification of taxa.
